I was recently asked by The J.M Smucker Company to create some unique tips for using a product and I wanted to share with you 5 tips on keeping your cat’s mouth clean. Fisher is our cat. We love him fiercely. He is a part of our family. In our family, we pay attention to our health. Oral healthcare is part of that process. Did you know 85% of cats show signs of oral disease by 3 years of age? 95% of cat owners agree tooth and gum problems can cause more serious health problems. So what are you doing about your cat’s oral health?

Did you know that a cat has 30 teeth once they reach adulthood. Since cats are cats, they can’t very well use a toothbrush can they? That leaves the brushing up to you!

It is important you take your cat to the vet to get his regular checkups including a look at his gums and teeth. Dental health issues can be detected early and if they aren’t can lead to serious health complications.

Establish A Routine

If you check and clean your cat’s teeth on a regular basis then you and your cat will become used to the procedure. Establishing a routine will soon become a healthy habit. If you start this as kittens by simply wiping gauze on their gums, they will get used to it.
