I like to make sure my family has a good home-cooked meal most nights of the week. However, with school in full force the time to make it is often not available. Â I learned from my mom to take shortcuts when you can, and Kraft has a new product Recipe Makers which does just this. We love fried wontons, but the whole process can take hours to do.
When I adapted the Hickory BBQ Beef Recipe Makers to my fried wontons recipe, I was able to cook the meat while I wasn’t even home! I just put the chicken (which was frozen) in the crock pot with the simmer sauce. When I came home a few hours later, I just added the finishing sauce and let simmer for 15 minutes.
The Recipe Makers box has a few suggested recipes to show you how versatile the product can be. You can make BBQ beef sandwiches, Hawaiian chicken or even create your own Meal Recipe like I did! I was able to cut marinating time, cooking time, and did not have to shop for all of the varied ingredients. The end result was perfect for the wonton filling and ready for me when I returned home. You could smell how delicious the meal would be from the aroma spread throughout my home.
The Barbecue chicken looked so yummy. Since it had been in the crockpot awhile, it shred very easily to stuff into the wonton papers. A trick to making wontons stay together is to wet the edges before sealing.
I just use a paintbrush and a little dish of water at my wonton making station. You just put a very small amount inside each wonton, then brush the edges with the water before folding in half. Some wontons I leave just like that, while others, I fold the corners up into neat, fun packages!
After you have all your “barbecue packages” sealed, you can either steam them like wontons or fry them in light olive oil until browned on all sides.
Â
You can serve them alone or with a side of barbecue sauce. These make perfect fun-night dinner treats! You can find all of the Kraft Recipe Maker products on the Meal Recipe website as well as on the Kraft Facebook page.

Those look so delicious! I love Potstickers, but my kids are not huge fans. However, I know they would love these with the BBQ Sauce! I guess I know what I’m making for dinner tonight. 🙂
