As part of my partnership with GE, I received coupons for my GE light bulbs. All opinions posted about my GE Lighting experience are my own. I am already huge fan of GE Reveal lighting and have worked with them in the past as you can see on my post: Energy Efficient Lighting For The Home Creates A Whole New Look. I have been working room by room to update all of my light bulbs to the energy efficient GE Reveal bulbs. By doing so, I am using less energy which translates to a lower electric bill. One of the rooms I updated is my den which has my new coffee nook in it. Doesn’t it look so inviting? Below is the overhead light that is currently installed with a 20 watt GE Reveal (comparable to a 75 watt).
While I love the light that this overhead fixture gives off, it is too bright to turn on at 5 am when I wake up. I usually end up waking up the dog, cat, husband and at least one boy. This means I am no longer alone which is the WHOLE reason I wake up early. I like to read in the mornings with my coffee – the whole reason for making a nook, but my choices were read in the dark or wake everyone up and don’t read at all. I am too old to read in the dark! I used to when I was a kid, but my eyes are not what they used to be. So off to Walmart I go! You can find my whole story on my path to purchase in my Google Plus Album.
The Reveal Light bulbs are really my favorite. I love the natural light that comes from them. You can buy them in several different lumens representing your traditional watts to achieve the look you are going for. I wanted a soft, book reading light so I would not disturb everyone, but I still wanted to be able to read.
I figured a lamp would look the best in my little area, and I really looked forward to be able to decorate this lamp shade or change it to match the seasons and holidays. There are so many fantastic ideas on Pinterest, so look forward to some DIY projects referring lamp makeovers. I just love using this space as a photo background for the many seasonal blog posts.
I also updated the light bulbs in my boys room. They used to be all different sizes and watts. Now they are all GE Reveal which really makes Jakobi happy. As a four-year-old, he is very conscious of things that do not belong together (Isn’t that a snippet form the Electric Company or Sesame Street)? Look at the difference between the two light bulbs. The whiter glow is the Reveal bulb. You can really tell a difference can’t you? You can learn more about GeLighting by following them on their social media accounts at Twitter and Facebook.
