He loves playing with the iPad so I knew it would captivate his wandering attention. You can buy the Cypher Kids Club cards from Target and you get the free app to go along with the cards from the Apple Store on iTunes. Then you pair the physical cards with the app to create a magical learning atmosphere.
There are currently three apps you can play with: animals, numbers, and the app we chose, letters. The game is pretty straight forward. There are cards with the alphabet on them. These cards have a QR code on the back that you hold in front of your Apple device. The Apple device reads the code and brings to life a robot Digi and the letters.
Digi explains the letters and what an uppercase and lowercase letter is. Then he asks you to press his control panel to further interact. “D” is for dinosaur, he explains. Then he says that the particular dinosaur is a Diplodicus which also starts with D. You can go back over the letter D or you can have the little robot slide down the tail of the dinosaur.
We had a really good time playing with and learning the program. My 2-year-old, Mason even chimed in on a few of the letters, and he was very interested as to what was going on. You can tell in my video below. They both wanted to see what was going on!
You can find the Cypher Kids Club cards at select Target stores in the Apple iPad Accessories section for $29.99. Make sure to look for them on Black Friday when you are out shopping. These cards would make a great gift for the toddlers and pre-school aged children on your list. You can see my whole path to purchase in my Google Plus album.
Note that you must use a compatible Apple device such as: iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad. Requires iOS 5.0 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5, and I played it with an iPad3. There is also the option to download the app by scanning the code on the box as well as getting the app from the iTunes store. You can connect further with the Cypher Kids club on Facebook and Twitter. I am a member of the Collective Bias™ Social Fabric® Community. I love the video of them interacting with the cards, I had no idea you could completely turn the cards around and it reflected that in the app. Thanks for sharing!
