When you are visiting Myrtle Beach, you are in a great area to get some great food. With the availability of some of the freshest local fare, you can imagine the delicious meals you can feast on while you are there. For some of the best dining in the area, you would enjoy the food at the Sea Captains House. This historic restaurant has been making some of the most mouth watering food Myrtle Beach has seen for almost 40 years. The original house was built in 1930 by Henry Taylor as an oceanfront cottage. After changing hands a few times over the years, it became Howard’s Manor in 1954. By the early 1960’s, vacationers were not as enamored with a guest house as they were with more private and modern accommodations. In 1962, the property was turned into the restaurant that it is today. When you first arrive, they have a waiting room set up with comfy chairs and games for the kids to play. Mason and Jakobi were having so much fun, they did not want to leave to sit for dinner.

Enjoy The Food at The Sea Captains House

One of the reasons that I think people enjoy the Sea Captains House is because it has that feel of a home. There is something soothing about relaxing and being able to enjoy the food at the Sea Captains House and the ocean view. If you love fresh seafood, this is one of the best places in Myrtle Beach to get it and boy is it amazing! We loved how welcome families with kids are made to feel and the gracious hospitality of the staff. The kids were kept busy playing dominoes in the waiting area while we waited for our table to be ready.

The restaurant is open to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and the menu is diverse enough to satisfy every taste and for every age. The kids menu has the perfect sized portions at very affordable prices. You can find such kid friendly foods on the menu as hamburgers, chicken tenders and grilled cheese. For the slightly more sophisticated pallets in the younger crowd, they can also enjoy fresh seafood including crab cakes, fried shrimp and flounder. For the adults, there are so many choices that it is hard to narrow down what you are going to order. There are delicious soups and appetizers, salads, chicken, steaks and pork ans fresh seafood.

My husband had the stuffed flounder which he loved and the salads are big, flavorful and filling.  Whatever you choose from the vast menu, your mouth and tummy are going to be quite happy! However, the best item on the menu is for free. These hushpuppies were absolutely sinful!
