  • Brown Sugar Bacon
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ½ to 1 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
  • ¾ cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small slices
  • 1 large egg
  • ¾ cup buttermilk
  • ¼ stick butter, melted
  1. Heat oven to 500 degrees
  2. Melt ¼ stick of butter and set aside.
  3. Sift together flour, sugars, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Cut butter into thick slices and pinch the butter with the flower to make pieces the size of nickels.
  5. In a separate bowl, Combine egg and buttermilk.
  6. Pour into flour mixture.
  7. Stir in bacon until you have a loose dough.
  8. Pour onto a floured counter and knead a few times
  9. Roll dough to 1-inch thick square
  10. Brush dough with the butter and then fold in thirds
  11. Roll out dough into a square that is 1-inch thick and repeat this process two more times.
  12. When you roll out your final time, cut the dough with a butcher's knife in even squares.
  13. Put biscuits on parchment paper and put in the oven
  14. Reduce temperature to 425 degrees immediately after you place the biscuits in the oven.
  15. Cook for 8 minutes or until browned
  16. When you remove the biscuits brush them with melted butter
