One of my favorite dishes from my childhood was Corn Fritters. My mom used to make these for dinner on special occasions. My sister and I would get so excited because we got to help mix the batter AND pick whether if we wanted syrup or powdered sugar. The ingredients are super simple and are usually in your pantry at home.
- 1-3/4 c flour
- 2 t baing powder
- ¾ t salt
- ¾ c milk
- 1 can of whole kernel corn
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 T melted shortening
- Measure and sift the dry ingredients together
- Combine the liquid ingredients and add to the dry ingredients.
- Drop by the spoonfull into hot oil
- Fry two minutes on each side or until golden brown

Did you know that 73% of Americans throw away spoiled fruits and vegetables on average two times a week. Cans help make sure nature’s bounty doesn’t go to waste. I cannot even begin to tell you how much food I throw away because it has gone bad. I shop for meals a week at a time, and sometimes I just don’t have the time to make what I had planned, something else comes up, or I have even forgot what I was originally planning an item for. When you buy canned food, there is no need to worry if your food will spoil anytime soon!
