My kids love to read as much as I do, which I love. We can spend hours in the library, which is conveniently located just across the street from our house. While Caitlin is in school, she always has a book with her to read when she finishes her work early. Instead of playing with the other kids at recess, she would much rather have her nose in a book. Studies show that kids who read have a larger vocabulary, a higher level of comprehension and have a higher IQ than those who do not. One of our favorite types of books we like to have around the house are fun fact books for kids. We absolutely love the books from Nat Geo because they have such amazing photography, content and they make learning fun!
Fun Fact Books For Kids
We are big fans of the Nat Geo channel and probably watch it at least 3-4 times a week. The kids really enjoy the shows about animals and other countries and the new show Brain Games. We are all trivia lovers and that is a show that can test your knowledge! We recently received 3 books from Nat Geo; Kids Cutest Animal as well as the Cool Animal Sticker Books and the First Big Book Of Why. You would not believe how brilliant and vibrant the colors in the books are! They seem to just pop off the pages!
Both kids had a lot of fun with the sticker books and spent DAYS pouring over them. Although they are older, they have always enjoyed sticker books, but hey! What kid does not? As a family, we really enjoyed the First Big Book Of Why because it has so much information that we did not know. Here are just a few of my favorite factoids we gleaned from the book:
- Dolphins have a belly button shaped like a cross, cats and dogs have a straight line and chimpanzees have one like humans.
- Blonds have the highest number of hairs while red heads have the least.
- The average airplane carries 400 people and weighs more than a million pounds.
- The Giant Gipsland worm from Australia can grow to over 3 feet.
Those were just a sliver of the hundreds of fun points of interest in the book. No matter their age, if you have kids at home, they would absolutely love these books! You can purchase these and other Nat Geo products from the Nat Geo online shop. The sticker books retail for $6.99 each while the First Big Book of Why retails for $14.95.
One USA reader will win this trio of books, which have a total retail value of $28.93.
My favorite is the monthly magazine. But I also like their children’s books and other books they publish: photography, special editions, animals, wars.. If it’s NG, it’s a must have.
