I live in the south where it is warm almost year round and I am always on the lookout for fun flip flops for women. I seriously wear flip flops as long as I possibly can, which gets me through to at least December or January. At the time I am writing this, it is the first of December and I wore my trusty flipper to the store today. My husband calls my flip flops social inept footwear, but this comes from a man who only wears shorts year round. To add some flair and variety, I try to mix in some fun looks to my flipper collection. Here are a few cute ways to dress up yours:
Fun Flip Flops For Women
- Ribbon: Ribbon is such an easy and cute way to add some color and ups the cuteness factor by a ton. You can get rolls of ribbon at the local craft store, and I recommend sticking to grosgrain when possible. The grosgrain keeps it shape and doesn’t unravel at the ends when you cut it. You just cut strips 5-6” long and tie them to the straps. Very cute!!!
- Felt: Felt is a new one for me as I had not thought to use it until I saw it on Pinterest. Because felt is pliable and holds up pretty well, you can do a lot with it. You can free hand a shape or you can use stencils to guide you. For St. Patty’s day, I took kelly green (favorite color yo!!) felt and traced a shamrock that was about 3” in diameter. I hot glued it to my strap and I was ready to go.
- Bling: Beads, rhinestones or other sparkly gems are another fast, fun and cheap way to dress up your sandals. Any craft department will have a great selection that can be used for this project. I love to use rhinestones because the bottom is usually flat which makes it easy to glue to the strap. Get out your handy glue gun and go for it!
- Charms: Charms are such a fun addition to your flip flops because they can tell a story or you can put just a few that you think are cute. If you have kids in sports or other after school activities, you can make team flip flops. For your cheerleader, you can find a pom pom and megaphone charm which would be so adorable. If you aren’t into the whole crafty thing, then you are in luck because many companies are adding charms for you. One of my favorite stores to get my flip flops has got to be Dupe. This fresh and young company is making huge waves in the industry, so you need to keep an eye on them.
Flip Flops That Look Good For Your Feet
Not only do you need flip flops that look good for your feet, but you also need them to feel good. I have had my share of very uncomfortable flip flops so I am usually hesitant to try a new pair. My friends over at Landman Sports Apparel Group, who umbrella over Dupe and a great tee shirt company by the name of Octane, send me a great collection of goodies. Phil Landman was so generous in sending me samples for my whole family to enjoy. I was pleasantly surprised and a tad shocked that every pair of flip flops was so comfortable and good looking. I chose the “Fashion” for the cute cherry theme with a dainty cherry charm ($19.00), Caitlin chose the Exotica ($15.00) in Purple, Henry received the Revolution ($13.00) in Moss Green which has a gel heel for comfort and Chris chose the Brasil ($13.00) in Navy. The guys each received a great looking shirt ($34.00 each) that is the softest tees ever! These shirts are so stinking comfortable that I plan to steal them as soon as they take them off long enough! I am so happy with my products from Landman Sports Apparel and if you are in the market for some high quality apparel, head over and see what they have.
One reader will win their choice of 3 pairs of flip flop ($13.00-$19.00 each).
