We all know boys and girls are different, but why is that? Of course they are physically different, but what about the things that seems to come naturally to them? A recent medical study showed that girls are more interested in faces and people right from the start. This may explain why they prefer to play with dolls or play “house”. Boys are less interested in people, which is most likely why they like to play with trucks, cars and other inanimate objects. As they get older, their play is much different from one another, both with physical activated and pretend play. Girls prefer to play with other girls, often one on one and like to dress up, act like a mommy or a teacher. Boys on the other hand like to play in larger groups where the play is rougher and more gregarious. If they are going to have pretend play, they usually gravitate towards a more physical scenario. Whenever Henry and my friend’s son Adam get together, they are playing war, ninjas or TMNT, which is their favorite cartoon.
