As any busy parent knows, it can hard if not impossible to find, let alone enjoy some me time. At any time of the year, much less during the holidays. It seems like the most you can get at any given time when there are children or family around is a few seconds at best. If you think a little creatively you will soon discover that the best way to score some of that me time that we all crave so much, is to simply ask for it. That’s right. What does any parent want more for Christmas than to get some time to spoil themselves for a spell. Here are a few of my favorite ways to enjoy my me times. Which are few and far between.
Here's To Some Quality Me time
I know for me personally I prefer the shower over the bath as you can constantly adjust the temperature to keep it exactly where you like it. That’s just my personal preference though. No one can deny the therapeutic properties of immersing ones self into hot water for a period of time. It’s great either way. Take your pick.
I can hear you already. Sleeping in is a myth for parents. It’s like a magical unicorn. You think you might be able to see the possibility of it, but then it dissipates into the glare of daylight. The things that keeps me from sleeping in are usually my kids, my routine or excessive light. Routine is what it is and it’s usually not wise to try and break it. Kids can trained or bribed, whichever works for you and windows can be covered. You would be surprised how easy it is to trick your brain into staying in sleep mode by blocking out all of the light in a room.
This is a another one of those things that seem to go the way of the Dodo once you become a parent. Usually your choices are limited to staying up late night, which is hard enough when you’ve got kids or actually going to the theater. Which doesn’t quite have the same appeal as getting cozy on the couch. So my way of doing this to either pawn them off on the grandparents or hire a babysitter.
One of the greatest ways for me to get lost in myself and really soak in some me time is to get immersed in a creative project. Whether it’ painting, writing, drawing or just learning a new song, hours can quickly go by unnoticed. Not to mention that it really helps me get in touch with inner me.
The way that nature is capable of healing itself, I have to believe that it is capable of healing us as well. There has never been a time when I couldn’t go for walk in the woods or take paddle in the back bays and not feel my troubles and stress melt away. the sights sounds and smells of nature are capable of putting me in a deep state of relaxation. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, give it a try. Go out by yourself with no music, no phones, just you and Gaia. You’ll come to understand and appreciate what she can do for you.
The folks over at Luvs know that being a parent is a journey of ups and downs. Did you know that nearly 2 out of 3 moms have taken a full day of me time? I know. That’s crazy right? Most moms that I know would take a full day off from housework or the opportunity to sleep in over a date with their celebrity crush. Even just a small dose of me time can carry you through the day. It can make a long uninterrupted shower feel better than a day at the spa. Luvs knows that experienced parents count on the things that help them get through their days with the smallest amount of hiccups possible. With the new and improved Luvs Ultra Leakguard Diapers with NightLock Plus™ babies are likely to sleep through the night, we all remember the feeling the first time that happened, greatest parenting ever! So to reward all of those unselfish hard working parents out there Luvs is offering a great money-saving opportunity with a $1 print-at- home coupon. Good Job Moms and dads. Keep up the great work.
