This post brought to you by Walmart. All opinions are 100% mine.
Many of us are rushing around getting ready for our holiday preparations. We have Thanksgiving in less than a week and the other major holidays are right behind. We are buying food for meals and gifts for our loved ones and many other items needed to make this time of year perfect. While we are focusing on our immediate family who are here with us, we need to remember our troops and their families. I have a cousin, Jamie, who is currently serving our country in the the Air Force. I remember the times we have spent over the years and realized he might not be at his table this holiday. There are so many families who are in this same situation and we should take time to support our troops this holiday. Walmart is helping our troops and their families through their “Holiday Salute to Military Families” program, with $2 million grants. This money will be used to purchase toys, meals and lodging assistance to those military families with the greatest need of support this year. In addition, the donation will also help bring many active duty service members home for the holidays.
Support Our Troops on #GivingTuesday
Many people are donating items through various programs and making care package for the service members overseas. They are sending personal care items, non-perishable food and many other much needed items. Two very amazing programs, Operation Homefront and Fisher House are asking Americans to lend a hand to our troops and their families this holiday season. To learn more about how you can salute military families this holiday season, you can visit Fisher House and Operation Homefront. Join in our Holiday Salute to Military Families
If you are looking for ways to give back, you can support our troops on #GivingTuesday. This national campaign is the second annual day of giving, which will start on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, which is December 3rd. This very important day is meant to celebrate and encourages charitable giving and activities that support non-profit organizations. This would be a great opportunity to get your kids involved in the spirit of giving while teaching them about our troops and how many are away from their families during the holidays. I would love to hear about who may know in the military or how you and your family plan to support the troops and our family. Please leave a comment in the section below and tell me! Please show your support for the Fisher House and Operation Homefront by following them on Facebook.
