I was recently in Chicago, which is one of my all time favorite cities. I live in Knoxville and although it is a beautiful place to live, it is not exactly a huge city! I mean, our entire downtown area is about 10 blocks square! I attended the Chicago Auto Show 2014 at the beginning of February and boy was it frigid! The temperatures were in the single digits and there was more snow than I have seen in years! On the ride to the hotel, it was snowing so much, you could hardly see the landscape through the windows! I cannot tell you how happy I was when we finally arrived at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place. I wish I could put into words how welcome the staff made me feel from the moment I walked through their doors. From the upbeat and happy gentlemen who opened our car door to the welcoming staff at the front desk, the atmosphere was aglow with their sincere friendliness.
By the time I got to my room, I was completely exhausted! All I wanted to do was crash and what a better place to do so than on the little slice of heaven they call a bed! This was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in, including the bed in my house! I love the array of pillows they provided so if one style is not for you, there were 5 more to pick from! I felt a little like Goldilocks visiting the hotel room of the 3 bears lol!
The room is furnished with a modern design, with a large desk for working, a comfy lounge chair to read by the window and ample space to hang my clothes. You can choose from the standard or business room and internet access is completely free! The room comes with a huge bathroom, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, a large 37″ TV with cable and VOD, a coffee maker an iHome stereo with an iPod docking station and so much more.
The view from my room was absolutely amazing! I could see the city skyline as well as Lake Michigan to my left. Each standard room comes with this spectacular view and you can even open the windows. The hotel is very spacious but is well laid out, making everything quite easy to find. I had a little shop right off the bank of elevators where I got snacks and drinks in the evening and coffee in the morning. The McCormick Place convention center is connected to the hotel, so getting to the Chicago Auto Show was just a short walk!
I loved the way the lobby and the many waiting areas were arranged and furnished. Everything has a sleek and modern feel yet are quite cozy. You can relax and read the newspaper while waiting for a cab or have a quick meeting in total comfort. You can choose from two great restaurants; Shor, a Chicago grill or Forno Italian Trattoria. You can also relax and have cocktails in the Mix Bar, which is just around the bend from the convention center.
The hotel also offers a 24-hour Stay Fit gym, sauna, indoor heated lap pool, sun deck, fitness concierge, Yoga Away™, jogging and walking paths along Lake Michigan as well as Chicago events and festivals and it is just minutes away from Soldier Field. The Hyatt Regency McCormick Place can also help you arrange your business meetings, wedding or other special event. If you plan to stay with the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place between now and April 30th, you can enjoy rates as low as $85 per night with their Stay and Swim specials!
