I Met The 2014 Kia Sorento, Now I Am Trading In My Car #DriveKia

Where minivans once ruled supreme is seems like the small SUV has become the “new” vehicle of choice for mid-sized families. I can’t say I complain. They offer the space and storage options of a minivan while maintaining a sporty “unsoccer mom” appearance. The new 2014 Kia Sorento SX is no exception. The 4 door, All Wheel Drive V6 boast seating for 5 and 18/24 mpg. On the outside it features eye catching 19inch alloy wheels, chrome door handles, tinted glass, fog lamps and a lip spoiler. Like I said, very “unsoccer mom,” can I just say thank you Kia? Thank you for the little things like the extended sunblocker on the visor.

The kids really appreciate the sun blocker on the back windows. This is a must living in Florida.

It’s nice to have a vehicle to haul around my family of 5 in comfort and style. Oh wait, didn’t I tell you that I already drive a Kia Sorento? Yup! I am currently the owner of a Sorento 2012, and after I had the extreme pleasure of driving this beauty, I am now buying my upgrade. It has everything I want …and more! You can tell by all of the bugs I collected on the side mirror.

While I can appreciate the sexy styling, like most things it’s what is inside that counts. The 2014 Kia Sorento SX is packed with entertainment features.  It comes with every music producing system I can think of including AM/FM Radio, CD and MP3, as well as Sirius Satellite Radio. You would think that would be plenty but in today’s high tech world the Sorento also offers Auxiliary and USB audio input jacks in addition to Bluetooth – I mean can you think of anything else necessary?! Awesome. Whatever we decide to listen to comes out clear with infinity surround sound audio pumping out of, count them, 10 speakers!

Sleek styling and high tech features are consistent throughout the Sorento. The 8″ monitor displays real-time traffic data in addition to radio controls. The instrument panel displays a Speedometer, Odometer, Engine Coolant Temp, Tachometer, Trip Odometer and Trip Computer. It boast an analog display and an outside temperature gauge – perfect for the times I dare forget just how hot Florida can be. The steering wheel features cruise and radio controls. It also shows right on the panel where I need to go with the GPS. I love that I don’t have to look at the center console to see where I need to go. There is also a beep that tells you when you need to turn, which more than once this week helped me figure out where I was supposed to be. I also am in LOVE with the back-up camera. See my mailbox that I should not be hitting…

I also found three 12V DC Power Outlets and 1 AC Power Outlet!

In addition to everything I have raved about above, all of the storage features inside the Sorento, including those that were hidden had me impressed. Of course there are the 40-20-40 Folding Split-Bench seats I have come to expect from Kia, but now they have added in the third row seating that I didn’t have with my 2012.

There is also a full floor console with covered storage, mini overhead console with storage AND a concealed cargo area storage. However, my FAVORITE feature is the auto close trunk button that is having me buy the newer version. I used this feature probably 25 times this week. Hands full, need to close the door, one touch is awesomeness in a can!

The kids favorite feature was the front to back sunroof!

The 2014 Kia Sorento SX offers a huge bang (and lots of storage) for a reasonable price of just $37,650.

  1. Wow this looks nice! Way way nicer than a minivan, haha. I think my favorite feature is the back up camera, it would be nice to not have to rely on someone else to motion to you when backing up to something.

  2. I’ve had my Kia Spectra for four years now and I still love it! I have never had anything go wrong on it!

    • I owned the first Kia back in the day and my Sorento I own now has never given me a problem. The only problem I have with Kia is that they keep making me upgrade 🙂
