Keeping A Clean Home Starts With Your Filter #FiltreteFilters

Living in Florida requires that we run our air conditioner 11 months out of the year. Well, okay I admit I run my air 12 months out of the year and open my windows a few days scattered across the winter months. In the wintertime we still have a high humidity, so even if it is cooler outside, it is still sticky. EPA says that indoor levels of many pollutants are often 2 to 5 times higher than outdoor levels, and they have identified indoor air pollution as one of the top five urgent environmental risks to public health. When I run the air, it allows for a more comfortable environment for the entire family. This means I need a good filter! However, my home has an odd sized air conditioning filter. The homes in my development all have the same unit, so you would think that the stores around where I live would carry the size we all needed.

We used to cut the filters to fit in the space we had, but that just ruins the filter and becomes a pain. So, I turned to the internet to research. I have always like the 3M brand and knew they had a filter I wanted. Their filters capture not only the dust and allergens, but also catch bacteria and viruses as well. Any mom who has just put their child in VPK knows you need all the help you can get battling the preschool cough. I searched on their website FindMyFiltreteFilter.com, and found that a local hardware store carried exactly what I needed and was closer to my house than where I was looking. Now I have a new hardware store I never knew about and a proper fitting filter. By the way, I live in the country so the stores around my house are scarce. I also found out from the website that you can purchase Filrete filters at at Lowe’s, Target, Walmart, and Costco.

Filtrete Brand from 3M makes an entire line of air filters for your home’s heating and cooling system—there’s one for each family’s needs and lifestyle. So even if you do not run your air, but use your heat in the wintertime like most of the country, Filtrete will have a product for you. The Filtrete Ultimate Allergen Reduction Filter, MPR 1900 is perfect for a family like mine. My husband suffers from seasonal allergies and the Filtrete Ultimate Allergen Reduction Filter is ideal for allergen defense because it captures 93% of household dust, pollen, mold spores and dust mite debris (ew) from passing through the filter. (This is why it is my husbands job to change the filter!) It also captures four times as many particles like smoke, smog, pet dander than ordinary pleated filters. For $19.99, I can have a cleaner home and own a dog and a cat! That is important when you have two boys like this to look after.

Did you know that by using a Filtrete Filters you can help maintain airflow in heating and cooling systems? Do you know why this is important? If your system gets clogged up or bogged down with dust, it stresses the system and requires more energy to keep working. It is hard on your cooling system and your wallet. Keeping your air clean is beneficial to your budget, health and the environment.
