Netflix Can Help With Teaching Kids About Bullying #StreamTeam

It is sad we are facing such childhood issues like bullying. When I was growing up, we had a few bullies in the neighborhood and the school, but they were few and far between. These kids were almost like the bully portrayed in movies like “Stand By Me” or “A Christmas Story”. They would pick on a kid, the teacher would grab them by the ear and drag the to the office. The next scene, you see the kid’s dad cuffing him on the head and grounding him until he is 35. End of story. Today, it is not that easy to solve and it is more rampant than ever. For goodness sake, we have library time for the Kindergarten kids where the librarian is reading books about bullying. In an effort to educate kids and parents about bullying and how to take a stand gainsaid it, Netflix is offering many programming options.

Teaching Kids About Bullying

In my opinion, we need to educate our kids about every aspect of bullying. From not being that bully and what that looks like to dealing with a bully. Sadly, every bully has a parent who may have been a bully themselves who in turn learned it from their parent. If we can stop this cycle, we have a chance to bring it to an end. Because the younger kids, like mine who are under the age of 6, you have to make it relevant. That is where Netflix comes in to the rescue! With such popular shows like Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Ben 10, Hercules or the Avengers,  little ones can see good triumph over evil. Netflix has a total of 11 movies and TV shows about bullying you can stream stream. Any of of them will get the conversation with your kids, both younger and older.

Some of the movies for the older crowd are Bully, The War, Billy Elliott, The Fat Boy Chronicles or Cyber Bully. If you have not seen Bully, it is one of the most powerful documentaries you will ever watch. It centers around a young man who is bullied at his school and how he and his parents dealt with the situation. It is some amazing stuff and you will not be disappointed.  With Netflix, movies and TV shows are instantly streamed (not downloaded) via a Netflix-ready device. You can get instant access to Netflix on devices, including TVs, tablets, mobile devices, game consoles and computers. With Netflix, you there is a kids section where the only titles you’ll have access to are pre-screened and appropriate for kids aged 2-12.  To sign up for Netflix, just head over to their website, create an account, choose a plan and start watching!
