My younger kids are 4 and 2 and have a mouthful of teeth that need to be attended to twice a day to keep the yuck mouth away. Do any of you remember that commercial on ABC? You can see it here: They call me Yuck Mouth. ABC aired this commercial for free back in the 80s not making any money off of it. Why would they do that? Because tooth brushing in kids is very important! I love how they did a SIMPLE Service project way back then! I know I sure brushed my teeth because of that commercial.
Good Oral Care For Kids
I showed my kids Yuck Mouth, and then we formulated our own plan to keep our teeth clean. You can see how I made tooth brushing fun for my kids with my Tooth Brush Chore Chart – Making Tooth Brushing Fun For Toddlers post. The Spinbrush by Arm&Hammer made it very easy for my kids to get involved and have fun with it.
They love “playing” with their toothbrushes and the characters of Spiderman and Captain America make it even easier to coax them into a twice-daily habit.
Because we think tooth brushing is so important we jumped at the chance to be able to do the Spin Into Action #SpinbrushCFK SIMPLE Service Project. Champions for Kids Simple Service Project is a project to get all of your family and friends to gather toothbrushes, toothpaste and other dental care items for children. You can see my whole path to purchase in my Google Plus post of how and what our family decided to purchase from Walmart before we rallied our friends and family. After I went to a few neighbors, brother and friends, I gathered all of below and took it to the STARS center which is a recreational facility in an low-income area in Fort Myers. They have a summer camp there, and the counselors know which kids need help with oral care. I talked to a counselor and we thought it would be better if they handed the items out as treats instead of me gifting them since oral care can be a sensitive subject.
I also packaged up an individual gift bag for a family that a friend of mine has whose house burnt down in a fire. I mailed this package to her to deliver to the two young boys. I figured it is always fun to receive mail and they would love the super hero guys on the Spin Brushes from Arm&Hammer. It made me & my children feel good to help more than one family. We have always had dental care, and after talking with my dentist, I was amazed at the sheer number of kids in our area that lost their baby teeth due to poor brushing habits.
