Think Outside of the Box: Stamping Your Unique Style Onto Your Bathroom Design

What is often considered to be the smallest room in the house can also be the coolest, when you manage to stamp your own unique style onto how you want your bathroom to look and feel, making it a place that inspires you every time you step into the room.

Bathroom design these days is not just about choosing the right color tiles or working out which type of flooring would be best. It is an opportunity to think outside of the box and create a bathroom that is a sanctuary and a temple dedicated to your own style and taste.

A place to escape

It is easy to understand why so many people visit day spa’s and spa hotels, as it provides an excellent place to escape the stresses and strains of daily living and a chance to pamper yourself and truly relax for a few moments.

Escaping and recharging the batteries are motivating factors behind the trend for many people to create their own day spa in their bathroom. This is a trend that has gained a lot of traction in the home improvement market and designers and architects are now frequently asked by their clients to draw plans up for a bathroom that includes steam shower rooms, saunas, whirlpool baths and even a sauna.

Plan your own place to escape by incorporating some of your favorite items that you like to use when you visit a spa, and consider adding wall murals that depict a special place or backdrop that instantly relaxes your mind and body. The setting you choose is only limited by your own imagination and if soaking in a hot tub whilst looking out into a deep blue ocean is what you want, then why not try to create it in your own bathroom?

The ultimate shower experience

If you can imagine stepping into a room and being met with a monsoon-like deluge of beautifully warm water cascading down on you, then you are thinking along the same lines of those people that have decided to create a custom built open walk-in shower.

If you are inspired by the luxurious wet rooms that you can encounter at a spa then you can take that inspiration and try to create your own luxurious version, by creating a walk-in shower room that will be so hard to exit once you have been pampered by the deluge of water falling down on you.

Transported to the beach

If you are at your most relaxed when taking a walk along the beach then you might want to transport yourself to this relaxing vibe, by creating a coastal style bathroom.

There are so many different ways to create a coastal feeling to your bathroom, with plenty of natural seaside accessories available to buy like rocks, driftwood and shells, you can soon envision that natural beach feel that so many of us like to experience.

You might even be able to adapt items that are already in your bathroom, such as finding some old pieces of driftwood the next time you are walking along your favorite beach and using them to create a unique frame to instantly transform your mirror.

Copper is back

Industrial based copper designs are very much on trend at the moment and it is easy to see why when you look at the impact and statement a large copper bath tub can make when it takes up a prominent position in your bathroom.

Copper accessories that have long been a feature of Nordic cabins are invading apartments and houses in the suburbs and even copper pipes are being flaunted rather than hidden, along with numerous quirky accessories that are available, if you want to make the most of the copper renaissance that is going on right now.

Go glamorous

One of the reasons why many of love to check in to a fancy hotel is so that we get a chance to pamper ourselves in the glamorous bathrooms that definitely have the wow factor when we enter the room.

Hotel glam in your own bathroom could be just the tonic you need after a busy day so why not take the chance to go big and bright? If you really want to embrace the bold and daring design features that you might see in an up-market hotel then perhaps a zebra print bathtub might be the star attraction that you are looking for along with lots of mirrors and plenty of different lighting options.

You can get almost any bathroom you want in your home, just think outside of the box and see where your imagination takes you.
