Tips For Easy Hair Maintenance

Learn To Cut Your Own Hair

Wouldn’t life be easier of you could learn to cut your own hair?  My hair grows so fast it isn’t even funny!  When I had my hair short and styled, I had to get my hair trimmed every 3-4 weeks.  At $25 per visit, I was wasting so much money on my hair.  The other thing was the entire product that I had to use on my hair.  I had mouse, gel, spray, de-frizz, de-tangle and just about everything else you could think of!  I was spending about $100 every few months on hair product.  There had to be an easier solution…so I grew my hair out!  Here are some tips to help you maintain your hair without breaking the bank.

  • Don’t wash your hair every day!!  I know, right?!  If you wash your hair too often, especially in the summer, your hair can get extremely dried out which will lead to breakage over time.  Wash your hair every 2-3 times per week to keep your hair from drying out.
  • Don’t brush or comb your hair roughly when it is wet.  The best way to break and damage your hair is to comb it like you’re mad at it!  If you do, you are going to regret it.
  • Keep your hair trimmed regularly.  In a perfect world, you would have your hair trimmed every few weeks and it would magically stay coiffed and beautiful.  NOT!!!  The optimal time frame for haircuts would be every 3-5 weeks.  The rule of thumb is the shorter the hair style, the more often you will need to get it cut.
  • Condition your hair each time you wash your hair and have a deep conditioning once a week.  In order to cut down on spilt ends and damaged hair, remember to conditioner that hair of yours!!

Save Money On Haircuts

My 13, almost 14 year old daughter has me looking for a way to save money on haircuts.  Her hair is in a longish layer and it grows like a weed!  I kid you not when I tell you she needs her bangs trimmed every 2-3 weeks.  I realize it doesn’t seem like much when you pay the $4 to get a bang trim, but if you need a bang trim that often, you are spending $104-$69 a year in haircuts.  When I was offered the chance to review Bango, the new product from Pro Beauty Tools, I was more than happy to do so!  The Bango kit comes complete with everything you need to cut your hair like the pros.  The box contains the adjustable Bango, scissors, 2 large hair clips, a comb and an instructional DVD.  The Bango is so easy it is not even funny!  All you do is decide where you want your bangs to stop and clip on the Bango at that point.  Next you just clip the hair below the edge of the Bango and you are cutting your own bangs!!  You can also cut layers and other salon tasks, but I suggest you watch the DVD a few times before attempting that!
