I love when I can walk into a house and feel immediately at ease. Â It is all in the decor. Â There are some homes that appear more formal, or just not as warm and inviting. Â I always strive to make our home feel homey with anything we choose for the decor. Â This not only includes all of the painting, window treatments, and pictures for the walls, but also our furniture.
When we moved into our home a friend had given us a beautiful dinning room table.  It is a formal table that has dark wood with the high shine top on it.  You cannot just wipe it off without having to polish it and anything wet that is placed on it leaves a ring on the table.  Not only is this table not a fit with the rest of our decor, but also with three children it has gotten very beat up.  It would make a huge difference to get a table that was not only more suitable with three children, but also one that fits in better with the rest of our decor. I love this table at Havertys called the Willowwood Road Pedestal Table:
This table can be made smaller by taking out the middle leaf, which is perfect for our small dining area.

- Sept 15th- Now Showing (designing an entertainment space)
- Oct 13- Seasonal Scapes (designing for seasons)
- Nov 10- Winter Colors (designing to incorporate winter colors)
- Dec 1-Finishing Touches (making that room complete)

With all of our technology in black and grey it would then be nice to offset those colors with colors in the red, orange or yellow families to create an inviting glow.  The Generations area rug below would pull that all together!
Finally, I would add this Naples Table Lamp, which would not only some soft lighting but would also add some accents to the room decor.
I think all these pieces would make a fabulous new family room! Â Are you planning on designing any rooms in the near future? Â Is there a Havertys in your area?
