What To Give The Person Who Has Everything
Do you have the problem of what to give the person who has everything on Valentine’s Day?  I have one or two people like that on my list and it is like this on every holiday where gifts may be exchanged.  My husband is one of those people and it is embarrassing that I have lived with the guy for 15 years and still have no idea what to get him!  The other person on my list is my oldest daughter Chelsea.  One of the main reasons it is hard to buy for Chelsea is because she is an artist and musician and she has very eclectic tastes.  I have had holidays where I absolutely nailed the right gift and I have had the opposite where you can just tell the gift just wasn’t even in the ballpark!  This year, I decided to do a little detective work and get some ideas for an unusual gift I could give to these two loves of mine.  I hope you may find some of these suggestions helpful.

What To Give The Person Who Has Everything

  • Beer Soap: If you have a person on your list that is a beer lover and likes to be clean, then this is a perfect gift for them!  When they lather up in the shower, they are getting soapy beer suds to get them squeaky clean.
  • Scratch Map: If you have a world traveler on your list, this is a very meaningful and unique gift.  The map has all of the countries covered in a scratch off substance so when you visit a country, you just scratch off the covering.  You can get a world map as well as a map of the USA.
  • Drinks and Glasses: I love to give a bottle of my recipient’s favorite drink and two shot glasses that are on the unique side.  One year I gave monogrammed glasses and last year I have these funny glasses that had small pebbles encased in the bottom of the glass.  This is so they can enjoy their drink “on the rocks” (hee hee hee).
  • Collectibles: If the person you are giving your gift to collects something, you can find out what they are missing and buy that item to add to their stash.  It is always a good idea to ask if they are still collecting, or you will end up like my sister who got Boyd’s Bears from my mom for over 10 years when she stopped collecting them about 7 years before.  If they don’t collect something specific, why not buy them the first of what can be many additions to come?  I found a little treasure hidden on the internet over on the west coast that I wanted to share with you.  Made In Washington is an awesome place where you can find Ah-Ma-zing gifts that are made right there in Washington!

Gifts That Are Made Local

I gotta tell you, whenever possible; I am 100% for giving gifts that are made local.  I believe heart (foreshadowing here) and soul that whenever possible, we should buy American, and when even more possible, we should buy local.  When you buy local, you are putting money back into your community which supports the local farmers, artisans and other rich talent in your backyard.  In 1984, Gillian and Jack Matthews, two Washington residents, opened the first Made In Washington store at the Seattle’s Pike Place Market.  By opening this store, they gave local craftspeople, artisans and small businesses the chance to sell their products to the public.  Now you can find 5 Made In Washington stores that are still selling the highest of quality products that are all made right there in Washington.  I may not live in Washington, but I am extremely honored to have been allowed to have one of the most gorgeous items I have ever had.  I was sent two hand blown glass heart ornaments from Glass Eye Studio.  Each ornament is individually blown and come with an artist card as well as ash from Mount St. Helens that erupted in 1980.  So, I was sent two jaw droppingly beautiful ornaments that are also way cool!  The Valentine Hand Blown Glass Heart Ornament ($24.99) (which Chelsea will get) is a rich red that when the light catches it, looks like fire.  The second ornament I received was the Violet Chip Glass Heart Ornament (which will go to Chelsea’s love) is a mixture of blues and violets that look like tranquil waters on a spring day.  If you are looking for something different that is locally made and will support the local Washington craftspeople, you should absolutely go to Made In Washington.

One reader will win one Hand Blown Glass Ornament ($24.99) of their choice, depending on availability.
